Our team brings hands-on experience from working with Queensland families and small businesses. They've managed budgets during tough times and understand the practical challenges you face.
Gareth Thornhill
Program Coordinator
Gareth spent twelve years helping regional Australian businesses survive economic downturns. He developed his approach after watching too many good operations fail simply because they couldn't track their cash flow properly. His sessions focus on simple systems that actually work.
Miriam Cassidy
Household Budget Specialist
After managing her own family's finances through two recessions, Miriam started teaching others what she learned. She's particularly good at finding hidden expenses and showing people where their money actually goes. Her approach is blunt but effective.
Petra Vaughn
Expense Reduction Expert
Petra worked in procurement for years before realizing most people overpay for nearly everything. She teaches negotiation tactics and vendor management strategies that work for regular people, not just corporate buyers. Her students often find immediate savings.
What You'll Actually Learn
Twelve weeks of practical content, delivered through evening sessions that fit around work schedules. Each module builds on the previous one, but they're designed so you can apply concepts immediately.
Money Tracking Basics
Most people have no idea where their money goes. We start by setting up systems to track every dollar for 30 days. It's tedious, but the insights are worth it.
- Setting up tracking systems that don't require apps
- Categorizing expenses in useful ways
- Identifying patterns and problem areas
Fixed Expense Analysis
Your regular bills probably contain unnecessary costs. We review common fixed expenses and show you negotiation tactics that actually work with Australian providers.
- Insurance policy reviews and comparison methods
- Utility contract negotiations
- Subscription audits and cancellation strategies
Variable Expense Control
Groceries, fuel, entertainment – these are where most budgets fall apart. We teach practical reduction methods that don't require living like a hermit.
- Shopping patterns that reduce impulse spending
- Meal planning that actually saves money
- Entertainment alternatives that don't feel like sacrifices
Emergency Buffer Building
Budget cuts fail when unexpected expenses hit. We cover strategies for building small emergency funds even when money is tight, and how to protect them from everyday temptation.
- Small-scale saving strategies
- Defining real emergencies versus wants
- Recovery plans after buffer depletion
